Quarterly ASIA was founded to read the literature, art, and society of Asian countries and to share those values together. It is a genuine and one-of-a-kind "Asia-focused literary journal," bringing together cultural figures, artists, and intellectuals from across Asia.
ASIA is made in Korea, to be shared with Asia. Its motto is the expansion of imagination toward Asia and inner communication among Asia's languages. We aim first to read Asia and account for what we find, and through that work to open a space for communication and solidarity.
The title ASIA does not simply refer to a particular region as a place. It aims for exchange grounded in an understanding of other cultures, and for understanding built through that exchange. ASIA is a spiritual free-trade zone where Asia's creative imagination can move freely in and out.
ASIA will therefore devote itself, above all else, to meeting and communicating with the literary realities of every land. It will strive to become a public instrument for Asia — a primeval forest of cultural imagination, charged with explosive vitality.
It will fulfill its role as a space where discourse and works that contribute to genuine understanding and communication among Asians are produced and circulated, beyond the logic of the market. It respects the cultural diversity of each country, and seeks to secure this journal's authority within a framework of equal relations among all.
ASIA aims to be an open medium that pursues no center of power other than a center of communication.
